Meissen part tea service, with blue crossed swords with enhanced pommels underglaze, indicating manufacture c.1865.

Each of the nine pieces - seven from Meissen and two, the cup & saucer from Minton - in this set is flower encrusted and is painted with insects, with gilding to the rims.

The set comprises: Meissen Teapot with Cover surmounted by a flower finial, two Meissen jugs with flower-finial covers and a Meissen cream jug. The set is completed with similarly decorated Minton pieces: a cup and a saucer.
Some minor fritting to some florets, a small chip to the underside of the spout of one of the covered jugs.
This Meissen and Minton part tea service was acquired by Deborah, Dowager Duchess of Devonshire during the 1950s (provenance verifiable). Meissen lot from Chatsworth House Attic Sale
The underside of the pieces include the shelf-reference location of the pieces as displayed at Chatsworth House.
