Typical shape and form for the censers of this period with a deep rounded body, flattened everted rim on three short rounded feet. Tripod censers were very stable as when they stood they didn't rock on uneven surfaces like three legged pieces of furniture.
The inside of the censer is unglazed as this would have been filled with sand for the incense sticks, sand being abrasive would have been degrading to the glaze.
The kilns at Dehua were famous for the best white fine grained porcelain and was also very low in iron content. Dehua was on the coast making internal shipments and further afield exports easier than from Jingdezhen
