Miss Kepple was the illegitimate daughter and co-heiress of Admiral Augustus, Viscount Keppel (1725–1786), who never married. Miss Keppel married Captain, later General, Thomas Meyrick, of the 66th Regiment Sir Joshua Reynolds painted portrait of Miss Keppel and her father, who was a friend of the artist
