Tiffany and Company.
A mid-19th century Four Piece Teaset, in original wooden case, New York circa 1855. Each piece is marked 'Tiffany & Co' 'Late' 'Tiffany. Young & Ellis' '550 Broadway' with gothic 'M' for John Chandler Moore and the pattern number '136'.The round bowl has also the order number '902', the covered sugar '1012', the cream jug '1249', the teapot '902'.
Each piece in the service is engraved 'To S.M.K. from A.F.S.' The key to the wooden box is labelled 'S. Schieffelin Tea set (S. Kendall 1858). Henry Maunsell Schieffelin (1808-1890) of the well-known family of New York merchants and druggists, married [his second marriage] Sarah Minerva Kendall in 1859.
