All the Year Around was a literary magazine founded by Charles Dickens published between 1859 and 1895 and published/edited by Dickens himself until his death in 1870. As a result only 11 of such issues, The Extra Christmas Number, were written and published by Dickens himself.

During the Charles Dickens management, the weekly issue would cover a broad range of short stories. This particular issue, made of 48 pages, is a special Christmas Edition of 1866 which gave birth to the all famous collection of short stories, Mugby Junction, and includes the most famous story, The Signalman. These stories are based on the Clayton Tunnel Rail Crash incident which occurred on 25th August 1861 on Brighton rail line.

An assortment of All the Year Around issues could be found in volume prints after Charles Dickens’s death, however, it is rare to find the actual single issue from a Christmas edition.
