Napoleonic Wars, Resumption of Hostilities Following the Peace of Amiens, coloured engraving, 1803, by Laurie and Whittle, a seated figure of Britannia with a portrait of George 111 below, supported by a soldier and a sailor. At the sides hanging from ribbons are the names of military and naval heroes, THE GLORY OF OLD ENGLAND / BRITON'S PROTECTION/ MY COUNTRY'S SUPPORTERS, rev. a lion and unicorn at the bottom with patriotic songs listed, WE WILL CONQUER OR DIE, 400 x 300 mm. Very fine.

The example in the British Museum acquired from the Bank's Collection in 1818 wonders whether it may be a book cover. The print states- "Accompanied with a Song."
The brief interlude in fighting following the signing of the Peace of Amiens in March 1802 came to an end on 18th May 1803 and this print is no doubt a response to this. This was the only period of peace between 1793 and 1815.
