The substantial porcelain body has been moulded to provide a relief to the decoration and sparingly decorated with floral motifs.
Porcelain New Hall hard paste porcelain teapot in the often used silver teapot mould. Below are shown both Holgate's description of pattern 2103, which accords with the piece offered, and de Saye Hutton's where the plate 199 referred is not the pattern offered here.
A Guide to New Hall Porcelain Patterns A. de Saye Hutton p.54 'Overall white basket-weave.Cartouches contain pink rose,green buds and a profusion of gold fern-like leaves.[He continues discussing the pattterns 2103 and 2268 Inner wavy border of gold stem of leaves with gold line to either side. (Refers reader to plate 100 p.187 which must be pattern 2268)
