These exceptional antique George II Newcastle sterling silver salvers have been crafted in two sizes and have a circular shaped form.

The surface of each salver is embellished with a fine and impressive flat engraved strapwork style decoration, accented with simplified floral and foliate designs with shaped panels of trellis patterns.

The centre of each salver is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting three herrings hauriant, surmounted with the crest of a stag's head erased, all above the motto 'Tam Mitis Quam Fortis' - I am as gentle as I am strong*.

The raised swept, shaped borders are ornamented with impressive cast and applied scrolling leaf decoration to the rims.

The largest salver is supported with three volute scrolling feet and the smaller salver features three hoof style feet.

These exceptional salvers have been crafted by the renowned and collectable Newcastle silversmith Isaac Cookson.

* These heraldic marks pertain to the Ord family
