A solid oak saddle seat stool by Robert Thompson of Kilburn (1876-1955) 'The Mouseman'. The burred seat is raised on octagonal chamfered legs united by stretchers with block feet. The whole has a lovely honey colour and retains a patinaion.

It is claimed that the mouse motif came about accidentally in 1919 following a conversation about 'being as poor as a church mouse'.
