| CROKER |
John Croker (21 Oct. 1670 - 21 March, 1741) was born in Dresden and named Johann Croker. He was brought up as a jeweller but practised die-engraving from an early age. He came to England in 1691 and was appointed Assistant Engraver to the Royal Mint in 1697. Croker was appointed Chief Engraver in 1705, on the death of Harris.
