Original vintage travel poster advertising Roma Cruise Ship Liner, Navigazione Generale Italiana (Italian shipping company founded 1881, merged in 1932 into Italia di Navigazione S.p.A - Italia Line). The ocean liner, SS Roma, was built in 1926 and taken over by the Italian Navy for conversion into an aircraft carrier in 1939 for World War Two, renamed Aquila. In 1943 she was seized by the German forces and was partially sunk at Genoa by Italian two-men torpedoes in 1945. She was finally scrapped in 1951-1952. Fantastic Art Nouveau image of a Roman statue towering over a steam cruise ship at sea. NGI Genova logo on both sides of the image. Printed by 1st It d'Arti Grafiche-Bergamo, Italy. Very good condition, small rust marks on top and bottom margins.
