This image is very famous and it was very popular at the time it is entitled "A Distinguished Member of Humane Society" The original was painted by animal painter Sir Edwin Landseer in 1838. The dog portrayed on the quay here is believed to have saved more than 20 people from drowning. The dog became a member of the humane society in 1838. Panel sold in original Victorian frame.
