A Matched pair of George III Boat Shaped Wine Coolers, with reeded edge on spreading oval feet. Both engraved with a crest. They were made for Henry Hippisley-Coxe (1748-1795) of Ston Easton, Somerset who was Member of Parliament for Somerset from 1792 to 1795. The arms on the left-hand side as you look at the shield are those for the husband and show (1) Coxe (2) Northleigh (3)Hippisley and (4) Coxe. They impale the arms of Pole for Henry Hippisley-Coxe’s first wife Sarah, daughter of Reginald Pole of Stoke Damarel, Devon. They married in 1786and she died in 1787. Ston Easton is now a hotel. For a time it belinged to Lord Rees-Mogg who restored the house and perhaps his son Jacob Rees-Mogg who is now an M.P. for a constituncy in Somerset.
