An outstanding pair of Georgian mahogany octagonal brass bound wine coolers/cellarets also know as gardes de vin. Which are recorded in George Hepplewhite's The Cabinet-Maker and Upholstery's 1st Edition 1788. "nd Edition 1789. 3rd Edition 1794. Each with four brass bands on a tapered body, and brass carrying handles to the side. The lidded top each opening to reveal a lead lined interior. I have included a photograph of the underside of each of one of the articles showing a small brass tap to let-out the ice water once melted. The whole is supported on a carved fluted frieze, with four reeded tapering legs, with square cup castors on barrelled wheels.
