Each of the cabinets features a black marble top, which sits above a very finely detailed ebonised wood cabinet case. The front of each cabinet has three panelled doors, flanked on each side by four ormolu mounts in the form of female figures, and opening to reveal an ebonised wood interior with an adjustable shelf. The exteriors of the doors are very finely decorated with brass inlays, in an intricate pattern, in the style of the famous 18th Century cabinetmaker Andre-Charles Boulle.

Maison Krieger (French, founded 1826) became one of the largest Parisian producers of furniture, remaining in the family of Antoine Krieger (French, 1804-1869) until the early 1900's. Maison Krieger won medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1851 and 1855 and at the Exposition des produits de l'Industrie in 1849.
