Donald Ross, of 13 Denmark Street Soho London exhibited a drawing room suite at the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London exhibits a pair of side tables, made in a virtually identical manner.

The design source of these tables by Ross is drawn from Pierre Garnier (1720-1800), a highly esteemed Parisian Maître Ébéniste; the Jones Collection Catalogue shows a virtually identical table illustrated as plate 33; Pierre Kjellberg's 'Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe Siècle' shows a writing table variant under the oeuvres of Garnier.
