A pair of George II mahogany hall chairs with silhouette shaped backs with balloon shaped dished seats. The front legs of silhouette and arched form, also with dished roundels. English, circa 1740 - 1760 Good quality hall chair with nice generous shape and made of really dense and heavy grained Cuban mahogany. For comparable examples see the entrance hall: Dumfries House, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Fair. Both chairs have been reinforced with wooden supports on the inside lower section to stabilize two splits in that area. Please see photos for details. Both chairs are extremely stable and usable. Both chairs have not been re-polished and retain their original patina, scuffs, wear and areas of discolouration. They are in their original Country House condition..
