Look at what I found on the Online Galleries website!
Although this style of chair is not unusual, the choice of woods are extremely rare. These chairs have a superb use of timber which would have been chosen by the maker, he had a great vision as to the woods he was using and what his finished pieces would look like.
The top hoop, of burr yew has four tapered spindles either side of the fir tree design solid tight grain burr yew wood central splat.
The arms and arm supports are burr yew, there are two turned burr yew spindles, one at either side of the central fir tree tight grain burr yew fretted splat & also two turned underarm supports.
The burr yew legs are linked with an H-stretcher with a central ball decoration.
The seats, of solid elm & burr elm are a wonderfully shaped saddle design.
These chairs are in excellent condition for their age, are both of stable construction & can go straight into a home and would be a wonderful addition to any country furniture collection.
