A GOOD PAIR OF CARVED OPEN ARMCHAIRS

Circa 1840.
The chairs having a rectangular top rail deeply carved with ‘S’ scrolls surrounded by leafy branches with a central anthemion, above swept open arms, the sabre front legs carved at the knee to either side of the panelled seat rail, the seat rail also carved with a shell flanked by branches, the drop in seat frames caned.
The padoukwood of particularly good mellow colour with excellent patination.
