A stunning pair of early Georgian serpentine Cutlery Boxes veneered in flame Mahogany with herring bone chequered edging all round, Both cutlery boxes have lovely patination and colour, they also have brass swing carrying handles to the sides with the fronts having very ornate lock plates with fully working locks and the tops having a pierced and decorative brass pull.

The interiors have their original red velvet lined cutlery decks. In the past knife boxes were displayed on a sideboard to reflect the wealth of the owners. Today they wood make an elegant accessory in any interior setting.

Although normally referred to as "Knife Box" the beautifully shaped lids open to reveal the cutlery decks, in which there are apertures to fit almost any kind of culinary knives, forks, and spoons. The boxes are equipped to hold twenty four knives, forty eight forks ( including dining and dessert) and forty two different size spoons. This indicates that the boxes may have belonged to owners of a large Stately House.

Each Georgian Cutlery box comes complete with tasselled keys and working locks.
