Pair of Shipbuilders half block models of Sir Thomas Sopwith's Gentleman's twin screw motor yacht Vita, 501t, built by Camper by Camper and Nicholson, Gosport 1928. One model, for the owners is on a fine mahogany backboard, the other, for the yard offices is on teak faced ply. C1928

Sir Thomas Octave Murdoch Sopwith CBE (1888-1989) was an English aviation pioneer, sportsman and a celebrated yachtsman. On December 18th 1910 he won a £10000 prize for the longest flight from England to the Continent (169 miles in 3 hours 40 minutues). His Company, produced more than 18000 British World War I aircraft including 5747 of the famous Sopwith Camel.

In 1927 he commissioned Camper and Nicholson to build a luxury motor yacht and in 1934 and 1937 he again collaborated with Nicholson to build the famous J class yachts Endeavour and Endeavour II.
