He exhibited at a number of venues, including the Royal Academy, and was a Member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Watercolour Painters. His portrait of Mrs Carter Gifford, exhibited in 1948, is now in the collection of the Tate Gallery. He had a studio in Melbury Road in Holland Park, London.
This painting is a watercolour over pencil and is framed behind glass and a single mount and is housed in a limed and polished oak rim. An inscription on the back of the watercolour states "Cairo III 1941 No 17". This suggests that he served in the desert campaign and perhaps painted this whilst on leave in Cairo. The numbering also suggests that he painted several such sketches. If a purchaser should require posting then, for safety reasons, the glass will need to be removed.
