The Dish is broad rectangular in form and stands on four bun feet. The domed cushion shaped pull-off cover is decorated with a band of wide lobing and reeding and terminates in a cast detachable crossed branch finial, decorated with foliate motifs and shells. The front of the cover is engraved with a contemporary mirror cipher. Once removed, the cover reveals the two interior trays, the top one plain in design, with two scroll handles. The second removable tray, has a deep bowl and the gadrooned rim is decorated with Rococo shells, flanked by acanthus foliage. The turned fruitwood carrying handle is attached to a silver tubular socket which is in turn attached to the base. The Breakfast Dish is in excellent condition and is fully marked on all four main sections. The detachable finial is also well marked. This is a most unusual ietm to come from the workshops of Storr. It may well have been a special commission, as we have been unable to find similar designs in our library.
