The case is of the classic style of the mid 18th century with an inverted-bell-top and central brass carrying handle. The front door has finely pierced engraved brass sound frets.
The arched brass dial has a delicately matted centre, rococo spandrels and inset datework. Within the arch there is a subsidiary dial for rise/fall and the strike/silent lever is by the number III. The maker's signature is engraved on the chapter ring below the inset date aperture and the blued steel hands are well pierced. The hours are struck on a single bell with Strike/Silent and pull hour repeat.
The double fusee movement has four pillars and a profusely engraved backplate with foliate swags in the roccoco style and the engraving is repeated on the backcock and the securing brackets. The knife-edge verge escapement has a brass pendulum rod with a circular shaped lenticular bob.
