Porcelain charger.Imposing and very large Chinese Kuang-Chou (Cantonese) Charger,nineteenth-century. Decorated in the famile rose palette,with groups of people amongst foliage and within and without buildings. The colourful foliate border is interspersed with delicately painted butterflies and household and symbolic wares.

The central illustration bears close resemblance to the central cartouche of a vase illustrated per Godden pp 158 - 159 and which he dates to 1830 - 1840.
Some small loss of blue enamel to the pagoda fence and to a character's blue clothing (see photos)
