Also per ^Winterthur Shape Book - the Online Shape Book of 1820 p.69 where the design 223 is found.
To the underside of the pot is written 589 in red,being the decoration number.
The decoration takes on an anglicised form and interpretation of the famille rose palette,the number 589 in gilding to the underside being the Spode pattern number.
Given Whiter's rough dating of patterns (p.87) where Pattern 589/150 + 1800 would give an approximate date of 1804 for the Pattern 589.
It was in 1800 that Henry Daniel began contracting to Spode for porcelain decoration. Given the close proximity of this date to the 1804 date estimate for pattern 589, it may be one of the earlier patterns as devised by Daniel. It was Henry Daniel who was selecting the decorators to work
