Porcelain Soup Plate made during the era of Count Marcolini's management of the Meissen factory. Marcolini's tenure at Meissen brought stability to the factory and in so doing created another period when pieces of the highest quality were again made.

The Soup Plate with the moulded rim includes a bold depiction of birds and insects, an occasion when the insect decoration was not primarily to disguise a flaw in the porcelain.

Similar plates are on show in the Library at Scone Palace near Perth.
