PORTRAIT OF AN ELEGANT LADY SEATED
1868 -1940 Signed & dated 1908

Jules Cayron was born on 28 September 1868 in Paris.
He became a pupil of the great French master Jules Lefebvre and later the Belgian master Alfred Stevens.
He was a painter of society portraits and elegant genre scenes set in Paris society.
He excelled in conveying the elegance of modern women, as can be seen in this glorious portrait.
Cayron became the painter of the international aristocracy, executing the portraits of figures such as the Princess of Arenberg and Princess Sixte of Bourbon amongst many.
Cayron also found time to design costumes for some major Theatre productions.
Cayron exhibited his work at the Salon des Artistes Francais and became a member in 1888.
He received a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1937 and was made Officer in the Legion d’ Honneur.
