Jean-Baptiste Louis Frédéric de La Rochefoucauld de Roye born August 17, 1709, in an illustrious house of the Charente nobility whose dating back to the tenth century. He is the son of Louis de La Rochefoucauld, Marquis de Roye, a distant cousin of the Duke of La Rochefoucauld, and Marthe Ducasse, the only daughter of Admiral Ducasse, the winner of Cartagena.
He married Marie-Louise-Nicole de La Rochefoucauld, daughter of Alexander, Duke of La Rochefoucauld. Alexander had no son, so he asked permission from the king and the pope to bequeath his title to her daughter provided she marries another Rochefoucauld. Jean-Baptiste de La Rochefoucauld de Roye is devoted Duc d'Anville February 15, 1732, just days before her wedding.
