The watch was made by the Company Badollet circa 1850. For a full history of this firm please click on the link below:
The watch has been cleaned and serviced and keeps excellent time
Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a lever escapement, two sets of train wheels and two mainsprings. One powers the watch, the other the independent seconds function.
The movement is jewelled throughout and is signed “Badollet, Geneve”. The movement is in 98% mint condition – tiny marks only
Case – the movement comes in a silver Hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the button in on the stem. The inner cover has 2 sets of holes for winding and setting. The inner cover is signed “Hamilton & Co, London and Calcutta” – this was the retailer.
The case has marks for Argent (silver) on the inside of the back cover.
The case is decorated with crisp engine turning and gold hinges which is always a sign of quality. The case also has coin edged sides and a slide to stop and start the independent centre seconds. The case is in pristine mint condition
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and two small watch dials. These can be set to different time zones. The watch also has a subsidiary seconds dial and a centre seconds hand. The dial is signed “Badollet, Geneve” and is in 99% mint condition – immaculate condition
The watch comes with a white metal chain and old watch key
The watch has a mineral glass
