Dating from around 1910 in the Edwardian period this antique mahogany glazed bookcase could prove to be the ideal display cabinet. It still retains the makers label "Robson & Sons Ltd of Newcastle-on-Tyne" and displays the quality expected from a reputable firm. It has a moulded rectangular top above a beautiful blind fretwork carved frieze below which can be found two astragal glazed doors, key and working lock along with a brass clash mould. The interior contains three fully adjustable shelves. The cabinet stands on wonderfully scrolled carved cabriole front legs with ball and claw feet along with shell carved motif. It still owns its original back boards and has aged to a rich medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
