Quality Georgian Walnut Antique Bureau / Writing Desk with Book Slides.
This supreme quality walnut antique bureau / writing desk with book slides, circa 1780, is a rare find indeed. It has a stunningly figured fall front with rosewood cross banding whilst the interior has a green baize writing insert, several birds eye maple drawers and slides and extremely rare book slides. It also has a central flamed mahogany cupboard door with key and working lock.
The lower section of the antique bureau has two over three graduating oak lined cock beaded drawers with brass swan neck handles and diamond shaped key escutcheons. The bureau stands on ogee bracket feet and has its original back boards. It is a stunning piece of furniture providing the owner with a real sense of history and uniqueness, it is a warm, golden walnut with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
