Quality William IV Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase
This beautiful William IV mahogany bookcase ca1835 has a deep ogee moulded cornice above two glazed doors with beautiful scrolled carved corbels and elegant carved glazing bars. The interior has three adjustable shelves. The lower section of the antique bookcase has a rectangular top above a deep drawer and has a fitted secretaire interior. The interior has a green baize writing insert, six small birds eye maple draws with brass handles and several pigeon holes. The antique bookcase has two beautifully figured cupboard doors with arched moulded panels, beautiful scrolled carved corbels, key and working lock. The interior has one sliding adjustable tray. The antique bookcase stands on a plain plinth, has original backboards and splits into two sections for ease of removal. It is a rich medium mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
