The Nips are cast and display a central box section engraved with reeded bands, a stylised flower head and a set of contemporary initials. The slender, shaped, arms terminate in detailed shell grips, one of which bears part of a maker's mark. The Nips are a very rare survivor from this early period and they are certainly the earliest we have seen. They are in excellent condition.

Length: 5.1 inches, 12.75cm.
