The walnut frame inlaid overall with chequered herringbone lines.
Of good colour and original waxed surfaces.

h: 133 cm.
w: 51 cm
d: 4 cm.

Ca 1710.

Ref:
Geoffrey Wills, illustr. 29, p.77, 'English Looking-glasses, A Study of the Glass, Frames and Makers (1670-1820)', Country Life Ltd., London, 1965.

NB. Mirrors or looking-glasses often had divided plates due to the fact that floating mirror glass with a large surface area was a difficult and costly business during this early period.
The marquetry in the cresting could be an indication of a slightly earlier date of ca 1690.
