This large scale antique early 18th century walnut armchair has very generous proportions and is well carved.
Possibly retaining the original, close-nailed tapestry cover.

Nb. The Régence period in France occurred between 1715 and 1723, when King Louis XV was a minor, and France was governed by Philippe d'Orléans (1674-1723) a nephew of King Louis XIV (1638-1715).
During the French Régence we see a transition away from the rich heavy ornate styles of the Louis XlV period, into the first quarter of the eighteenth century, when Rococo gradually became more fashionable amongst the aristocracy.
