An extremely rare Chelsea saucer dish finely painted with butterflies and insects in the manner of J G Klinger of Meissen.
This is the only saucer dish of this size recorded with this decoration.
Red anchor mark.
This service was sold by Sotheby’s on April 18th 1961, lot 163, and has been in a private collection since then. An additional teapot and stand are illustrated by Elizabeth Adams in Chelsea Porcelain, Fig.8.27. 8.28.
