An elegant late George III - early Regency period mahogany Canterbury (magazine rack) of unusual architectural form, after the Gillows design; having three interior divisions, with the top edge finely reeded; raised on four slender exceptionally finely turned supports, terminating in original brass castors.

Fantastic colour and patination, very rare in this design and condition. Structurally sound, minor restorations to one leg.

English or possibly Scottish, c. 1800

A related Gillows design illustrated in Lindsay Boynton, Gillow Furniture Designs 1760-1800, pl. 239.
A related example is recorded to have been made by James Mein of Kelso, Scotland.
