The folding cloth decorated with a Crown & Anchor and the card suits, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds & Spades. The cloth now laid down on an old games board. The dice shaker of stitched and tapered leather and comes with three dice for playing the game. The game was most commonly played by sailors either on board ship or in a harbour’s pubs and inns.

Originally conceived in the 18th century, Crown and Anchor is a fast moving gambling game that found favour with sailors in the British Royal Navy, and, by the middle of the 19th century, quickly became popular with other sea-faring men, such as those from the Merchant Navy and British fishing fleets.
