A rare Victorian walnut cased weather station by 'T.B Winter Opticians Newcastle upon Tyne'.

The walnut case contains a clock, with the Name on the silvered dial, that has an eight day movement which is mechanically linked to a revolving drum that records the fluctuations in barometric pressure on a record sheet.

This is also linked to an aneroid barometer that shows the barometric pressure and in the centre just below the revolving drum is a Maximum & Minimum alcohol & mercury thermometer.

The walnut case has a glazed door to the front which falls forward when unlocked to give access to wind the clock and change the recording papers on the drum.

The door when closed has an overlapping seal to keep out dust.

T.B Winter were based in Grey Street Newcastle upon Tyne and were manufacturers of Mathematical, Nautical, Philosophical and Optical instruments.

Also trading in Theodolites, Levels & Circumferentors, Sextants, Quadrants, Compasses & Telescopes, they were active in business between 1857 - 1878.

The weather station is in excellent working condition.
