Eight day fusee movement striking the hours on a bell and fitted with a strike repeat facility activated by a pull cord on the right-hand side of the case. The clock can be set to strike or silence via a lever at the top of the 8” convex dial. The dial is in superb condition with its original background and faded numerals with asymmetrical matching steel hands. A convex glass fitted into a cast brass bezel secured with a lock protects dial and hands. The back-plate of the movement is engraved with a border and has an engraved pendulum with rating calibration.
The mahogany veneered case is of a typical Regency construction used in the 1820’s. The design has a flattened break-arch caddy with a central finial mounted on a chamfered pediment. The brass inlay is of high quality with delicately executed motifs. A pair of cornucopia handles still with original gilding matches the lancet pattern side-frets.
Fully restored with a two year guarantee.
