Offered by Millington Adams
This type of table was originally supplied by Gillows for T W Egerton Esq. of Tatton Park, Cheshire, circa 1811 and for other commissions during the early 19th century.
Gillows of Lancaster were probably the most celebrated of all English furniture makers. They were established in the early 18th century, and pieces made by Gillows are very desirable and extremely sought after. The Gillows archives refers to a “Chamber writing table” ref 344/14; 4 of which were supplied to T W Egerton Esq of Tatton Park Cheshire in 1811.
This particular piece was the property of well known BADA silver dealer Christopher Warner of Harrogate.
