An excellent example of a Decorative Chinese ( Canton ) Bamboo Armchair of the Regency Period , still showing the faded white decoration being quite the norm for this very Oriental fashion- which was made to suit the Chinese taste as well the thriving export market mainly to Europe . Notably the Prince Regent set the exotic style at home fashioning the Brighton Pavilion very much n this taste .
Very good country house state - suprising condition considering the delicate dimensions .
Private Collection
See Brighton Pavilion ( Sussex ) Prince Regent spectacular Oriental Project - and also - English Country Houses Christopher Hussey Page 247 Claydon House for examples of similar chairs .
