VeneeredAn early 19th century amboyna veneered slope top writing box.
The box has a decorative panel in the centre of the lid, a broad geometric inlaid edge and line inlay around the central panel. Inside the lid is a baise covered writing slope which lifts to expose a stationery storage area and above the slope is an ink well and pen compartment.
The box has a slim drawer to the right hand side with a Sheffield plated ring handle, the drawer has a locking pin to the inside edge of the writing slope.
The box is in good condition, the interior has been relined at some time with coloured paper and has a working lock and key. (Circa1810)
