Reigate Heath
Reigate Heath
John Linnell was a pupil of noted artists John Varley, William Hunt and Mulready. Linnell entered the Royal Academy School in 1805 and began exhibiting in 1807, he continued to exhibit until his death in 1882. John Linnell spent a good deal of his life in Redhill in Surrey and he is perhaps best known for his landscapes of this area. This oil on canvas work titled “Reigate Heath” is a perfect example of his work. Today Linnell’s work forms part of the permanent collections of museums too numerous to mention.
