Attractively proportioned and well-constructed early 19th Century figured mahogany dwarf Wheel Barometer; with ‘'swan-neck' pediment over finely patinated case, ebony strung, inset with well engraved silvered brass detachable Fahrenheit thermometer and unusually small 6-inch diameter barometer dial, with delicately cut hands and signed by the maker.

Second son of the renowned Edinburgh-based Alexander Adie. Richard established an instrument-making firm in Bold St., Liverpool in 1835, a business which flourished until his death in 1881.
