A fine William and Mary Walnut and Arabesque Marquetry eight day Longcase Clock of small and neat proportions, with finely detailed inlay depicting floral designs and birds within geometric panelled borders. The 11" square brass dial with cherub-head spandrels, signed (Ric. Spittle London) silvered chapter ring with roman numerals and arabic minute markings enclosing a finely matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes and finely engraved date apperture; original fret-cut steel cut hands. The eight-day double brass weight driven movement with 5 finely knopped and fined pillars, anchor escapement and internal count-wheel strike on a bell. The trunk door with a bulls-eye glass lenticle and raised on bun feet. Circa 1700
