The box is rectangular in form and has two hinged covers for a large and smaller compartment, obviously for two different types of Tooth powder. The box is beautifully made and the larger cover is engraved with a contemporary Scottish Crest with the Motto "Commit Thy Work to God" above. The Crest is that as used by Alexander Campbell Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness (1790-1855), created 13th Earl in July, 1823. The box is in excellent condition and is fully marked in no fewer than three locations. The quality is quite outstanding, as would be expected from this maker. Toothpowder Boxes are extremely rare from England, as only a few were made in Birmingham. This is the first time we have seen one from Scotland.

Length: 3.5 inches,8.75cm.
Width: 0.75 inches, 1.88cm.
Height: 0.4 inches, 1cm.
