Note: Hallowell was a graduate of the Phillips Academy and Harvard University. He was President of the Harvard Lampoon and a founder of the new Republic Magazine along with Walter Lipmann and Herbert Croly. He served as the Assistant Director of the Federal Arts Project 1935-6. From 1924-34 he exhibited at Bernheim-Jeune, Montross Gallery, Feragil Gallery, MacBeth Gallery and Knoedler Gallery.
