A fine and rare miniature George III bracket clock. The ebonised brass bound case stands on ogee feet and the three pad break arch pediment is surmounted by a brass carrying handle.

The brass dial is mounted with a silvered chapter ring, spandrels and a subsidiary dial for strike/silent. The centre is matted with an aperture to view the day of the month.

The twin fusee, eight-day duration movement includes a verge escapement and hour strike sounded on a bell. The backplate is delicately engraved in a foliage design and the movement entirely fills the case.

Robert Henderson, who was a most highly esteemed maker, is mentioned in Baillie's "Watch and Clockmakers of the World", as working between 1768 and 1805. One of his bracket clocks is in the Imperial Palace collection in Peking and those clocks made by Henderson which we have had have all been of excellent quality.

This beautiful miniature clock is the smallest three pad top example which we have handled, and hence very rare.
